The Reverie of the Sundial Heart

the convenience of my consciousness passes the gamblers from the road
unraveling the mystery of my control, the contorted  melody without a word
what makes what to relative to the things I recall in my memories
wrapped in the shadows of their eyes, people & places I have known
relevant remarks from coffee shop's patio, window to the world of a center
to befriend a foe, finding forgiveness is gold, I hear myself talking to you now
it's the sad things I tell myself when nobody is there to listen, to forgive myself
waste not is to want not, life is about waiting to waste our time on your dime
a good friend is about the best thing, I can think of, in this universe to converse

fragments of flashes permeate into this waking life
thinking, feeling a transfusive daydream  to every part of the memory
foundation for the thoughts so mundane & sad
reverie indulged desires to look back and retrace
where you have been in all these lifetimes of guilt & shame
where you have been in all these lifetimes of high highs & low lows
fact of the matter is you made it through to here
got here from there, down the rabbit hole, intact able to love
to make me who I am, no need to get stoned, escape, I have grown

scenes of grey-green leaves shadowed in shades of the disappearing forest
I can't afford to feel it's about me, I see the beauty in my tree
Joni Mitchell's- I Think I Understand pays in the sunlight of my sundial heart
the voice in my traveler self penetrates the music playing here in my room
loneliness facilitates the heartfelt sympathies of the good time rounder me
pick a day to get away, train trip across, the good ole usa
walking through the blackness off the tongue of taste of wine like sandpaper
listening to the night, oh, the brightness of the spark, summertime fire flies
the flesh-like rocky pathways upon hills of daylight, I remember that night

"It's Therapeudic"

I have to wonder
our purpose under
the stars, light beams
the moon & sun
I will always remember these times
the emotions, feelings are lovesome
how it had all begun
back at the plant
her email address, now the hip blue hat

it's her gentle smile, it's all her own
she digs thinking about me from
the room she has in her group home
she has almost everything she needs
the spaces between us, she's anxious
uneasy that her hopes will fade
we may as well, start a parade
with two monkeys & a goose

she digs the way I'm made
poking my belly
thinking about my chest
she's caught my scent
with those keen senses
she's been blessed
hands to touch, hands to hold
may our kisses always tell how we will grow old
together, we have tasted each other

funny jokes about hairy artichokes
pinwheels & ferris wheels
living in seatle, complaining about the rain
living on popcorn, jelly beans & potato peels
barkin' carnies drive me insane
laughing while the milk spills
hair grownin' from the inside, ticklin' the brain
I want to scream, "It's Therapeutic"

Sundial Heart for the Harmonious

the thickness is deep of the oneness of us
lots of listening, memorizing & etching to the heart
song lyrics, personal truths, plagiarising poetry
the dust is thick but, the mind works quick playing tricks

animated debate to cast your fate
lack of mental acuteness breeds simplicity
between you and me, open my chest to pull out my heart
all in the name of intimatecy or is it "into the sea"

for all the little women
the ones behind conscientious men
rain, rain go away
concealing my sundial heart today

a hungry mindless time I abide
knowing a strangers mind
out to the crossroads of border towns
hold your mouth just right to catch the big ones

take me back country roads
to sit a spell on porch swings & rocking chairs
shooing flies & comparing alibis
only to get up for another beer

Drops In The Ocean, of My Love

with a gift of a blueberry beret
a thinking cap to remind you of me & yesterday
our first of many dates, together at play
think about the rest of our lives, how we will grow
the flesh is weak, healthy lust will come, heathy lust will go

our love is more than a sexual feeling
it's a chance to come to terms with guilt
to be true to yourself, to start the healing
we can learn there is more to love than ourselves
to know what's best for our fertile souls
the power of love will make our halves a whole

so lets dream together about a brighter day
let a world of truth light the way
work for peace, think of me as your best friend
peace of mind from within, it will carry us in the end
you will transcend, after you feel the meaning of a true friend

each day when you come to call
thinking about you & walking tall
memories of you smile but, you aren't here at all
I'll catch you when you trip & fall
all in all, I will help you take down your walls
that you have built to conceal how you really feel

the kind things you say with an open heart
you aren't embarrassed to say,
"I've never been in love this way"
to reflect my compassion, I share in my caring way
you taught me the meaning of altruism
our concern & devotion, drops in the ocean, of my love

Just Like A Woman by Bob Dylan

Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Ev’rybody knows
That Baby’s got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl
Queen Mary, she’s my friend
Yes, I believe I’ll go see her again
Nobody has to guess
That Baby can’t be blessed
Till she sees finally that she’s like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl
It was raining from the first
And I was dying there of thirst
So I came in here
And your long-time curse hurts
But what’s worse
Is this pain in here
I can’t stay in here
Ain’t it clear that—
I just can’t fit
Yes, I believe it’s time for us to quit
When we meet again
Introduced as friends
Please don’t let on that you knew me when
I was hungry and it was your world
Ah, you fake just like a woman, yes, you do
You make love just like a woman, yes, you do
Then you ache just like a woman
But you break just like a little girl

there are flies on me, there are flies on you, ain't no flies on jesus

you may not always be a better man for speaking your mind
conserve your lust for nun-sense, that is for your own time
together, we work, the job can be mindless, my mind is mine
first asking the question to yourself

every man is alone in his waking hours
in control, awake, with magical powers
even when the spirits break, when our conversation sours
first asking the question to yourself

life holds more than said words
choose the ones mean the most, words are not dead
defining the oral history, of my world, with a flash of sound
first asking the question to yourself

it's not about the games people play
the things you say, to get through the day
passing the moments in a thoughtful way
first asking the question to yourself

the importance of this time for conversation
the meaning of the defining words flow out
of the tongue, pour out of the window of your soul, love & understanding is my goal
first asking the question to yourself

Passing Through Souls

brand of ideology
technics of archery
confliction of character
ocean of devotion
for talking & listening
change
plethora of burdens
what to say...
comfortable friendship
here is our relationship
meeting space to be
coming face to face
adoration takes the place
she said it all with a smile
outside to find
the nature in your mind
wooden birdhouse etchings
pretty white flowers
licensed hunters
to comfort your fears
I only wish to walk abreast
walking in sunlight
together

Woman of Heart & Mind- For Jessica Maree

I am slowly learning the meaning of zero.  None better, none worse and without value but, a number a place in the world all the same.  I've concentrated on one for so long it's hard not to see anything different.  Now, i'm teaching & learning the meaning of two.  It's a humbling experience to say in the least.  I'm trying to be strong & learning right from wrong.  I'm a smart man.  It's not easy at first. A place has been made in my heart for her.  That's what this mix is about.  Enjoy!

Joni Mitchell- Woman Of Heart And Mind

Joni Mitchell- Woman Of Heart And Mind

I am a woman of heart and mind
With time on her hands
No child to raise
You come to me like a little boy
And I give you my scorn and my praise
You think I'm like your mother
Or another lover or your sister
Or the queen of your dreams
Or just another silly girl
When love makes a fool of me
After the rush when you come back down
You're always disappointed
Nothing seems to keep you high
Drive your bargains
Push your papers
Win your medals
Fuck your strangers
Don't it leave you on the empty side
I'm looking for affection and respect
A little passion
And you want stimulation-nothing more
That's what I think
But you know I'll try to be there for you
When your spirits start to sink
All this talk about holiness now
It must be the start of the latest style
Is it all books and words
Or do you really feel it?
Do you really laugh?
Do you really care?
Do you really smile
When you smile?
You criticize and you flatter
You imitate the best
And the rest you memorize
You know the times you impress me most
Are the times when you don't try
When you don't even try

Mama, You Been On My Mind by Bob Dylan

Perhaps it’s the color of the sun cut flat
An’ cov’rin’ the crossroads I’m standing at
Or maybe it’s the weather or something like that
But mama, you been on my mind
I don’t mean trouble, please don’t put me down or get upset
I am not pleadin’ or sayin’, “I can’t forget”
I do not walk the floor bowed down an’ bent, but yet
Mama, you been on my mind
Even though my mind is hazy an’ my thoughts they might be narrow
Where you been don’t bother me nor bring me down in sorrow
It don’t even matter to me where you’re wakin’ up tomorrow
But mama, you’re just on my mind
I am not askin’ you to say words like “yes” or “no”
Please understand me, I got no place for you t’ go
I’m just breathin’ to myself, pretendin’ not that I don’t know
Mama, you been on my mind
When you wake up in the mornin’, baby, look inside your mirror
You know I won’t be next to you, you know I won’t be near
I’d just be curious to know if you can see yourself as clear
As someone who has had you on his mind

Poignancy of the Moment

Well, I finally did it.  I made the perfect mix.  What, to do now?
Working at it with more listening than it's usually worth but, we all have a purpose and mine comes naturally with a touch of grace.  Makes me have to wonder about y'all.  How has working with music made your life better & in what ways has it changed you?  Yes, I'm addressing you the angel-headed hipster behind a computer with your files all lined up.  With that setlist ready to fill your life with pleasure & satisfaction that goes along with the songs, that familiar personal truth comes alive, to the missing puzzle piece to your soul.
Oh, and you can't spell poignancy with out Nancy, my dear ones.
Enjoy!
