Visions of the Incogitant (Ghosts of Richmond)

So this was a nice experience making this and getting a load of emotions offa my chest. I was really in it, if you know what I mean. To be in it, is to have the mix speak to you and the folks who you want to share this with. I took many hours trying on different outfits, if you will, to touch on all of the simple things that needed to be said. And the spirit world, I can't forget the spirit world, it won't forget me. So, there it is. A mixer is a naked man with his clothes on. Cheers! and enjoy!

More Punk Rock From George (All Music Is Folk Music)

When you take your precious time with this, and I know you will, cos you know how important Richie Havens is to my mixing. Think about this being Richie's wake. I would be honored to have J.B. Lenoir show up at my wake. I heard the news today and I thought about how I heard Richie say how “All Music Is Folk Music”. That statement is worth standing behind cos some people study music (like me) and some people follow (trends). So tread lightly, for we all have to live in each other's shadows. “We All Are But Dust & Shadow”. “The Brightest Flame Casts The Darkest Shadow”. Ask yourself, was the light worth the candle?

The Kindness of Strangers

The Hardest Part of Sharing My Folk Art

By: George Waldrop

to construct, as if to architect, cause & effect
to liberate, as if to cast fate, decency & respect
when a mix is made, I am immediacy of meaning
to share the mix is the hardest part of being a folk artist
my songs of surge mirror cultural isolation, features of
bright bold colors, skillful & righteousness, decorative by design
within me, apart of me, I become apart of the oneness
softly listened tender, intently knowing the art of goodness
then I share a mix with you, it should be considered a blessing
I am an artist, there is a profound feeling that I am sharing
if you don't understand then I can't tell you and I don't explain
somethings are better left unsaid and that's just the way life is
remember the world doesn't revolve around you, I only make mixes for me
the vanity in your heart shows, if you ever think the song is about you
I would have to really know you, I would, to explain how the wind blows
or to put a song on a mix to make you tell, a song has always been a spell
nursery rhymes, turning sport of the vain, nursery rhymes, mixing ain't my game
the mixtape is a fine art, I am an artist, a folk artist, I am involved in people
life is about people, music is apart of humanity, life is about people
ask yourself, if any of my songs bother you, ask yourself about humanity
ask yourself about vanity, some people get too comfortable, is that song really about me
music is moral law, when it hits you, you feel no pain, music gives charm to the gaiety
of life, music gives soul to the universe, and more importantly it helps me to converse

Corn Tooth Swing (In Fond Loving Memory of Joey de Vivre)

When friends share mixes, it's like they share the same soul in music. Both bodies have a common understanding meaningful and true. So, when you think of me, think about my soul that has been touched, turned on & righteously moved. Take this humble gift, for it is an offering of a bygone era in mixing history. A mixing community is the most powerful moving experience when the right people are involved. Thanks, Joey de Vivre!

Turning Each Memory Into A Perfect Summertime

Turning Each Memory Into A Perfect Summertime

By : George Waldrop

I'm too tired to pretend, I don't want to be alone
camping hippies camping in a tent
coughing up through the congestion
a sack in a poke, a satchel for smoke
bail of hay, from the swag wagon slag
one hand on the handle of the road
the other hand on the cover of shelter
we've learned all our lessons, confessions &
good-time rounders found along the trail
pathway walking the path to a bath under
the waterfall or on the rocks at the river
berries, mushrooms, mirrors, costumes
summer is here and the time is right for sex
I remember you in that july picnic daylight
rice & bean tacos, snapples, garlic hummus
sandwiches with fresh tomatoes, cukes & onion
memories of a memory, reflections of connections
a pure innocence unplagued with reality of poverty
the romantic way we looked at our lives so free
the 40 ounce bottle is half empty now of this life
if I saw you now I'm sure we would express pleasantries
but I hang on to my memories like ashes in the fireplace
and pour the gray burn dust on the flower bed of my mind
my time, time to understand just what we had
to know where to go, to know what we needed
like cattle and sheep, I now feel aged, lost & weak
I can relive that friendship in my mind that age, space & time
a lucky dream, daytime rope swing, summer fling
acid laugh, cigarette ash, tapestry of happy faces
we had some hair, folksing waxing, down to there hair
can you remember me? alive, real & feeling free, that was me
I'm too tired to pretend, I don't want to be alone
