There's a Hole in Reality through which We Can Look if We Wish —
The invisible people are the people who are only characters in books. I brought this character The Seer to life with this drawing. Sweet Thursday is a favorite of mine. And Steinbeck's character made me think of real people I have known.

you don't know the caring quality, it takes in the man like me
you don't know the sense of decency, it takes for me to be
you don't know the fellowship of humankind, it takes to be free
in this simple style of character, you don't know me

if you deny my freedom, then you deserve to be in chains
I am none but a pilgrim, with a hat full of rain
easiest way for you to say, people don't change, then complain
in this simple style of character, you don't know me

if one of us is chained, then none of us are free
to be the lost, to know loss, to suffer is something to be
I will be the strong one, in your time of need, trust me

I hope writing is our connection, you may learn it's all the same
you have to know the dim weakness, to accept yourself as strong flame
for it's the brightness that's attractive, strong words that resonate to reclaim

I made this after watching the documentary “Erasing Hate”. Redemption is a age old tale that can be something to really believe in and get behind.




“Now there is a final reason I think that Jesus says, “Love your enemies.” It is this: that love has within it a redemptive power. And there is a power there that eventually transforms individuals. I would like you to see me in this light, my poetry unpretentious and bright
I think everyone that has ever been can say something profound about themselves
just from the experience of how they are living, call things by their true names

Walt Whitman said whatever satisfies the soul is truth
Donovan said all our souls are deeper than you can see
I am telling you we all are but dust & shadow, to pierce to the marrow

ask yourself was the light worth the candle, or the cold worth the heat
I tell everyone I meet, to tread lightly, for we all have to live in each others shadows
the brightest flame casts the darkest shadow, ageold time is aglow

the troublesome fear, the complexities of our history of mankind blend into
untrained, isolation, the folk artists turned ethnomusicologist & dylan's baby blue

lonesome goes deep but I will never know it's depths
loneliness pain is when you are hurting and no one is there
more lonely is having someone there who doesn't know how to care

I know the rain, how it smelt and how the flowers felt
beware, to know a man, walk between the raindrops, you think you know
resurrect the roots of the road, the sensitive soul is moved to tears of hobos

to study folk music and of their relationship to the peoples and cultures
singing our songs, the simple immediacy, we the people belong, I make mix tapes
among all the people, your absence, the people who are always, not you

Beauty of Life

I am the young, it is a state of mind
I am the patient, carefully taking my time
I am the virtuous, I listen, to give life purpose
I keep the ability to see beauty
I am patient, for it brings happiness
I have courage to be wise with these virtues, I am
the young have the abilities to cure the terrible disease of loneliness
patience is knowing, knowing to look for the beauty of life
I love myself for my values & virtues, now I can love another
I don't know who I will be when I get old, he is yet to come
I don't know who I will be when I become restless, he will be
I don't know who I will be when I am all but vices, he will know
my character is more important than my reputation
I am my character, you are my reputation
developing my character takes trial and suffering
being sure of the sum of my character, a life in conformity with virtue
I am guided by my virtue, apart of my life's ambition
life is about the separation of happiness from amusement
effort not amusement, to labor and suffer hardships all

Visions of the Incogitant (Ghosts of Richmond)

So this was a nice experience making this and getting a load of emotions offa my chest. I was really in it, if you know what I mean. To be in it, is to have the mix speak to you and the folks who you want to share this with. I took many hours trying on different outfits, if you will, to touch on all of the simple things that needed to be said. And the spirit world, I can't forget the spirit world, it won't forget me. The Kindness of Strangers

The Hardest Part of Sharing My Folk Art

to construct, as if to architect, cause & effect
to liberate, as if to cast fate, decency & respect
when a mix is made, I am immediacy of meaning
to share the mix is the hardest part of being a folk artist
my songs of surge mirror cultural isolation, features of
bright bold colors, skillful & righteousness, decorative by design
within me, apart of me, I become apart of the oneness
softly listened tender, intently knowing the art of goodness
then I share a mix with you, it should be considered a blessing
I am an artist, there is a profound feeling that I am sharing
if you don't understand then I can't tell you and I don't explain
somethings are better left unsaid and that's just the way life is
remember the world doesn't revolve around you, I only make mixes for me
the vanity in your heart shows, if you ever think the song is about you
I would have to really know you, I would, to explain how the wind blows
or to put a song on a mix to make you tell, a song has always been a spell
nursery rhymes, turning sport of the vain, nursery rhymes, mixing ain't my game
the mixtape is a fine art, I am an artist, a folk artist, I am involved in people
life is about people, music is apart of humanity, life is about people
ask yourself, if any of my songs bother you, ask yourself about humanity
ask yourself about vanity, some people get too comfortable, is that song really about me
music is moral law, when it hits you, you feel no pain, music gives charm to the gaiety
of life, music gives soul to the universe, and more importantly it helps me to converse
