How To Fight The Loniness- Wilco

How to fight loneliness
Smile all the time
Shine you teeth til meaningless
Sharpen them with lies

And whatevers going down
Will follow you around
Thats how you fight loneliness
You laugh at every joke
Drag your blanket blindly
Fill your heart with smoke
And the first thing that you want
Will be the last thing you ever need
Thats how you fight it

Just smile all the time
Just smile all the time
Just smile all the time
Just smile all the time

It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) Bob Dylan

Darkness at the break of noon
Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child’s balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon
To understand you know too soon
There is no sense in trying

Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn
Suicide remarks are torn
From the fool’s gold mouthpiece the hollow horn
Plays wasted words, proves to warn
That he not busy being born is busy dying

Temptation’s page flies out the door
You follow, find yourself at war
Watch waterfalls of pity roar
You feel to moan but unlike before
You discover that you’d just be one more
Person crying

So don’t fear if you hear
A foreign sound to your ear
It’s alright, Ma, I’m only sighing

As some warn victory, some downfall
Private reasons great or small
Can be seen in the eyes of those that call
To make all that should be killed to crawl
While others say don’t hate nothing at all
Except hatred

Disillusioned words like bullets bark
As human gods aim for their mark
Make everything from toy guns that spark
To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark
It’s easy to see without looking too far
That not much is really sacred

While preachers preach of evil fates
Teachers teach that knowledge waits
Can lead to hundred-dollar plates
Goodness hides behind its gates
But even the president of the United States
Sometimes must have to stand naked

An’ though the rules of the road have been lodged
It’s only people’s games that you got to dodge
And it’s alright, Ma, I can make it

Advertising signs they con
You into thinking you’re the one
That can do what’s never been done
That can win what’s never been won
Meantime life outside goes on
All around you

You lose yourself, you reappear
You suddenly find you got nothing to fear
Alone you stand with nobody near
When a trembling distant voice, unclear
Startles your sleeping ears to hear
That somebody thinks they really found you

A question in your nerves is lit
Yet you know there is no answer fit
To satisfy, insure you not to quit
To keep it in your mind and not forget
That it is not he or she or them or it
That you belong to

Although the masters make the rules
For the wise men and the fools
I got nothing, Ma, to live up to

For them that must obey authority
That they do not respect in any degree
Who despise their jobs, their destinies
Speak jealously of them that are free
Cultivate their flowers to be
Nothing more than something they invest in

While some on principles baptized
To strict party platform ties
Social clubs in drag disguise
Outsiders they can freely criticize
Tell nothing except who to idolize
And then say God bless him

While one who sings with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
Bent out of shape from society’s pliers
Cares not to come up any higher
But rather get you down in the hole
That he’s in

But I mean no harm nor put fault
On anyone that lives in a vault
But it’s alright, Ma, if I can’t please him

Old lady judges watch people in pairs
Limited in sex, they dare
To push fake morals, insult and stare
While money doesn’t talk, it swears
Obscenity, who really cares
Propaganda, all is phony

While them that defend what they cannot see
With a killer’s pride, security
It blows the minds most bitterly
For them that think death’s honesty
Won’t fall upon them naturally
Life sometimes must get lonely

My eyes collide head-on with stuffed
Graveyards, false gods, I scuff
At pettiness which plays so rough
Walk upside-down inside handcuffs
Kick my legs to crash it off
Say okay, I have had enough, what else can you show me?

And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They’d probably put my head in a guillotine
But it’s alright, Ma, it’s life, and life only

Free Is Something To Be

I have a distant memory of
a time and place I called free
drinking and smoking
to escape what I call me
in this memory
I use to know how to be free
I knew just what I needed
but,through change & recovery
I lost the old tendency to know what is free
an inclination of that emptiness
unsure of what I'm suppose to be
in this memory
I knew how to say and tell myself
"I shall be free"
in the experience of living every day
change needs somewhere to go
change needs something to be
change needs something to convert to
adjustment to a new reality
free has to mean something different
free has to transform
free of the need to be free
when freedom is defined
the power to determine action
without restraint or to be confined
within this memory
I now know
what free really means
I wasn't free at all
depending on
drugs & alcohol
escape artist
how I spent my time
nothing to call mine
friends & drug buddies
blind leading the blind
in these modern times
freedom is hope
hope is a higher power
like the great creator
or something profound in nature
now I have hope for me
narrow pathway to recovery
recovery and a chance to change
change: the very nature of the universe
without change there would be no evidence of life
life:power of adaptation
a state of adjustment
of my view of reality
amenable to understanding
I have to accept myself
recognise the changes
believe that freedom is my hope
hope is reality
my hope is real to me
within my newfound meaning of free
free is something to be

Horizons & Busy Being Born - Texas Hobart + Steve Hackett

to live
to work
to be
like everyone
to give
to play
to me
like everyone
I am growing
I am learning
I am sharing
like everyone
forlorn of fate
conscious & awake
aware it's my fate I make
like everyone
I am busy being born
I am busy being free
I am busy telling my truth
I can see
like everyone
a sense of normalcy
I can be me
I live free
and do what I must
like everyone
In this big blue world
I control my destiny
using my mental power
skills enforcing will
like everyone
life is sad
life is beautiful
I know the difference
I can share what I've learn
with those with concerns
about sadness
about quietness
that both run deep
I feel it
from my head to my feet
understanding life
what it means to be alive
and how I survived
depression
pain
thinking I am insane
wanting to die
welcoming change
busy dying
conscious
of my own existence
I shed those fears
life is for the living
I want to know
at the end of my row
just how I grow
I can say I lived for today
everyday
like everyone

Christmas Time Is Here

life is a
a collective scheme
thoughtful & thankful
sugar plum fairy dreams
thoughtful & thankful
dreams of what christmas means
to parents & kids alike
thoughtful & thankful
for what jesus & hope
means to mankind & human beings
believers or believe nots
the prince of peace
Jesus Christ
if you are at the crossroads
faith & beliefs
of pain & personal truths
Santa Claus
fooling the youths
fantasy Vs. reality
distorted reality
always question your faith
creator or savior
this christmas
preserve the mystery
save some time to dream
about what christmas means
the songs you sing
music you listen to
good will towards all mankind
rich or poor
god is watching you
a open door
this could be all there is
nothing more
spirit & christmas cheer
it's in the air
christmas time is here
comes but,once a year
today,I took a moment to pray
for peace
in this season
peace is the reason
purpose for peace
peace of mind
a place to be at christmas time
in my mind
equality for all mankind
love thy neighbor
like a brother
glad tiddings
good news
for those christmas blues
it's in the air
christmas time is here
