People of Recovery

the regaining of something lost
the finding of something taken away
don't underestimate my abilities
for it's my ability that holds true to my recovery
I found this art in my heart of hearts
a friend in need, you will be freed, open to be with me
alone together our time conjointly with one another
I hope we can learn to see this recovery for what it is
how it's really real when we work together
I know how awesome a friendship can be
I know how goodness brings on security
a comfortable contented confidence
I am opening the door to our soundness
wholeness for the wise of heart
the meaning of desire, yearning to be healthy
we need to see and feel this meaningful union
I must be mindful, the time is now for this truth
I believe in togetherness, I must be mindful
I sure can't live on dreams and fantasy
for it's living in fantasy that leads to suffering
and those dreams are only in your head
until we come together to celebrate one another
what will people think when we collectively
show sound therapeutic practice for each other
there is a place for us all in the community
the mental ill with our addictive personalities
the addicts with our displacement of feelings
our troubles, our art and our integrity
everyone can learn from the people of recovery
